This beautiful example of a Kashmiri papier mache bowl, large in size with a deep rounded form. It is beautifully painted, with a rich dark green background, decorated with lighter green ferns with a touch of berry red and a generous amount of gold detailing. The inside is painted in an earthy reddish brown . Handmade in Kashmir, dating from early 1900 possibly earlier, the finish has a rustic aged character rather than glossy perfection. This piece is artisan made, decorative rather than functional and suited to country, folk art or vintage interior style.
